About Cylinder Heads Innovations

CHI - leader in manufacturing quality Cylinder Heads & Manifolds

At CHI we are committed to providing our clientele with unsurpassed cylinder head and manifold combinations.

One of the main reasons why we are the preferred choice worldwide is our commitment to giving you the best out of the box performance of any Cleveland cylinder head and manifold combination. We do this by keeping all manufacturing in house, and in Australia. We are the only company that has all their Cleveland castings poured and manufactured entirely in Australia.

Our castings are the heaviest and most robust in the business. Our competition's cheaper Asian alternatives, weigh as much 2kg or 4.4lbs less per cylinder head! This attempt to save money only makes an inherently weaker and inferior product.

We also know that entrusting machine work to cheap overseas alternatives only results in inferior products that require extra work to remedy their shortcomings.

So whilst other manufacturers are producing cheap "semi finished" goods, at CHI we are sticking to the motto " You get what you pay for ". You see we are only too aware it costs more to do things twice, than once properly.

At CHI we are offering more value added options at a competitive price by keeping the machining under our strict quality control. We have STD height UNI-Exhaust ports that allow the use of all factory exhaust systems and factory head bolts. The UNI Exhaust makes our heads a straight bolt on option where you can use all your existing exhaust system.

All of our Cleveland cylinder heads up to and including the 208cc runner come standard with our UNI Exhaust. Our 225cc head comes standard with our raised exhaust port but can be ordered with the UNI Exhaust port at no extra charge.

For those that are more performance orientated we also have our raised runner exhaust ports that can be ordered in any of our smaller runner heads, also at no extra charge. Our raised exhaust ports can and do fit certain model cars and are an advantage over our STD height exhaust port when the hp levels increase.

On the machining front all our cylinder heads are machined in house on our in house CNC machines. We know you want to avoid buying an off the shelf cylinder head that needs extra $$$ spent on it to finish it properly, so our products come filled with standard features that you have to pay extra for with our competitors.

By keeping our machining in house we can custom machine your cylinder heads to your individual requirements without adding any extra cost to the product.

Every one of our Cleveland cylinder heads comes with FREE CNC chambers and hand finished valve seat to bowl transitions, to give you repeatable results every time.

New for 2008 is our CNC Vari-Chamber. Gone are the days of milling the head deck of a cylinder head to reduce your chamber volume. With our Vari-chamber we move the CNC chamber program height up and down to give you your desired chamber volume without having to mill the head face.

That means the head deck stays as rigid as possible, at its original 3/4" thickness. Another great feature of the Vari-Chamber is the need to mill the manifold flanges to match up those misaligned intake ports associated with milling head decks, is now a thing of the past, saving you even more time and money.

Best of all the CNC Vari-Chamber is totally FREE with any order placed directly with CHI (The Vari-Chamber option applies to our 3V CNC chambers only). Ask our competitors to do that with their cheap overseas imports for you!

Note : (Our new std chamber volume from 2008 is 60-62cc depending on valve choice. This is the STD chamber volume unless otherwise stipulated. We can however offer anything from 70ccs to low 50cc chambers with our new 3V Vari-Chamber, without having to machine the head deck face.)

Whilst our competitors advertise flow numbers, estimate horsepower and use inflated dyno numbers, we build, and most importantly validate our results, by racing cars with our product. This firsthand experience is an invaluable tool, when we help choose your combination. It's one thing to build engines and another to have them run at their full potential in the car.

When you buy from CHI you get the experience gained from our personal in car testing. From the very beginning we have been testing our cylinder heads in cars to verify their potential before we bring them to the market, with outstanding results.

When you buy an engine combination from someone who has no personal in car testing experience, it's a hit and miss process. You will notice our competitors have not attempted an in car testing program to match our results.

So when your next being given a story on how good someone's product is, don't take their word for what you are going to receive, ask to see proof of their own testing and in car results and then compare them to ours, in comparable standard weight cars, not lightweight race cars that appear quick.

Our test cars are the fastest of their kind in Australia. Some examples of them are our LJ Torana which was fitted with a normally aspirated Alloy Headed Hemi Inline 6 cylinder that ran 10.4 sec at 126mph over 10 years ago.

More recently we have been racing our 427ci SBF with our out of the box 225cc heads Roller Package heads and 4500 Dominator manifold, in a full weight 3500lb XW Fairmont. The CHI-Dandy Engines XW Fairmont (click on the link to view our 9.7 ET video) has produced 760hp on pump gas and run 9.72 @ 139mph in Full Street trim minus exhaust system!

At a later meeting on VP Q16 fuel the Dandy Engines XW Fairmont ran 9.68 @ 141.69MPH with our 260CNC ported heads and with the exhaust on! This has all been achieved in an untubbed, standard rear suspension car and is currently the fastest N/A pump gas Small Block Ford street car in Australia with multiple "real street" shootout titles to its name.

Coming soon (late 2008) will be our 440ci SBF with our new Jon Kaase C-400 cylinder heads. This car will be running our new 4.0" 4500 3V manifold and we will be aiming for 850+hp and mid 9 second quarter mile times.

Along with our own outstanding results are those of our customers. Most notably has been the B.K Automotive tuned Cortina with the license plates "BWARNED". This car utilized a pair of specially prepared pair of solid 3V heads, to become the first Australian Pro Street car to break the 200MPH barrier over the quarter mile and has broken into the 6 second zone also.

Rest assured, whilst other companies claims to be No 1, we actually get out there and produce real results that are unmatched by our competitors. Just as we have been unmatched in performance at the Engine Masters Challenge, our results at the track have also had no equal.

Our resolve is to bring you the customer, outstanding performance from our cylinder heads and manifolds by testing them on the fastest cars and most powerful engines, time and time again.
